Couple good things to know:
Relax on the road! Cars in berlin generally are very used to sharing the road with cyclists, normally even looking to see if cyclists are present before making right-hand turns! So try and avoid conflict, especially if you are subjected to the following, which is their greatest habit, ”penalty honking”. This normally is enforced by a motorist stuck somewhere a hundred meters behind a red light and directed at the cyclist taking a right-turn on red. Or something similarly innocuous. Just ignore them.
Another thing to watch out for on the road is the berlin police. best wait until they have passed on before testing your “skills” while sharing new technical developments with a foreign colleague.
Lock your bike! Opportunistic denizens of the deep night have gotten a taste for fixed gear bikes. We predict a feeding frenzy this summer, bring a good lock.
